Near video v5 is getting better results to my eye while also running faster. Neat video v4 did an excellent job of getting the results I need although slower. This isn’t the first project where I’ve noticed this behavior and I’ve been unable to prevent it by diving into settings. These dots move like liquid around the head as it moves through their location. Originally when I used the Resolve native option it’ll clean up most of the background fast, but near moving elements like the head the noise seems to get ‘stuck’ in place as static dots. My only option that doesn’t blur it horribly is using TNR with a little standard noise reduction. It’s an excellent test bed as the background is essentially just a mostly flat green screen so it has an obvious flat target to profile. It’s a very tough footage as it combines green screen, black and white grading with the channel mixer, and some ‘relighting’ using keys and windows. I just switched to using it on a project that cause me a lot of trouble (I’ve moved from the Resolve TNR to Neat Video 4 to Neat Video 5 I’ve the course of the week). profiling has a perceivable difference in quality I’m sure at it’s based it’s just blurring channels with different aggressiveness (I mean it’s got a slider for that) but like Barnes said there’s definitely something more going on especially in regards to the TNR, flicker and object removal elements etc.
